2018 Cascina Corte Langhe Nebbiolo

In the early 2000’s, winemakers Amalia Battalia and Sandro Barosi discovered an abandoned farmhouse among overgrown vineyards and lovingly restored it into a biodynamic farm and bed and breakfast, Cascina Corte. Located in the Langhe, an area known for its low-rolling, fog-filled hills, Cascina Corte is the perfect home for the Nebbiolo grape, which thrives in cooler climates. 2018 Cascina Corte Langhe Nebbiolo is tasting so incredible that we can’t stop drinking it! While it is rich and deep in flavor, it is still surprisingly light in texture, which makes for a versatile wine that pairs as well with braised pork shoulder as with a seared piece of striped bass. Enjoy balanced notes of caramel, dried cherries, rose petals, and woodsiness.

2018 Jean-Pierre Grossot ‘Les Fourneaux’ Chablis Premier Cru

What makes Chablis so special? Part of its charm is due to its rich Kimmedirgian soil. 150 million years ago this part of Burgundy was actually a seabed, which left behind a plethora of fossils and seashells that impart richness and salinity to the final wines produced in this area. In the village of Fleys, winemakers Jean-Pierre and Corinne Grossot make organic wine with their daughter, Eve. They produce the classic 2018 Jean-Pierre Grossot ‘Les Fourneaux’ Chablis Premier Cru in a traditional style, resulting in a Chardonnay that bursts with laser acidity and minerality. Most of the grapes are aged for a year on its lees in stainless tanks, and a small portion is separated and aged in oak casks, imparting an elegant, buttery-rich texture. 

NV Philippe Gonet ‘TER’ Blanc de Blanc Brut

The soul of Champagne rests on the art of blending different grapes from different vintages from different vineyards. This is what makes Champagne so complex: the goal is to blend wines in such a way that they create a harmonious result. It’s rare, but sometimes Champagne houses choose not to blend, like the great house of Krug, who makes unblended Champagne from single vineyards. Siblings Chantal and Pierre Gonet pull inspiration from Champagne tradition of blending, yet choose to highlight only the Chardonnay grape from three different plots from the chalky slopes of the Côte des Blancs, which is where the best blanc de blanc (100% Chardonnay Champagne) is made. The unusual shape of this TER bottle is a nod to a round, stout bottle from the 17th century that was found in their family cellar. Amused by the thin neck and full body of the bottle, the Gonet siblings had this shape made special for their winery. NV Philippe Gonet ‘TER’ Blanc de Blanc Brut is a blend of four different vintages and bursts with notes of toasted brioche, almonds, and a bit of orange zest.
