West Coast Wine (and one Rioja) with Emme from Baystate

Nothing will bring you more hope on this day than talking to the sunny Emme and sipping West Coast wines (and one Rioja). Let. Freedom. Drink.

2013 Aviary Cabernet Sauvignon ($34) - Napa, California
Aviary is a winery under the ownership of the company, ALC/VOL, which is also at the helm of the winery Folktale. ALC/VOL are known to throw epic parties including their upcoming tasting “Under the Influence of David Bowie” in Carmel, California. The Aviary Cabernet Sauvignon is a deep ruby color with notes of smoke, leather, orange marmalade, and chocolate. Borrowing from their website’s description, the finish “brings to mind the sweet smokiness of an Old Fashioned.”

2014 Aviary Chardonnay ($18) - Napa, California
The 2015 Aviary Chardonnay is one of our best-selling oaked Chardonnays with notes of tropical fruit and vanilla. As one reviewer noted on www.delectable.com, this wine “pairs well with motorcycles in Ybor City.” Hilarious.

2013 Beronia, Viura ($14) - Rioja, Spain
Hailing from the Rioja region, the Viura varietal exudes a bright yellow-green color with golden highlights and in the nose you experience a slightly herbaceous lemon-zest. This white wine is oaked for 6 months on its lees giving it a full-bodied and lush mouthfeel.

2014 Amity Vineyards, Willamette Valley, Pinot Noir ($30) - Willamette Valley, Oregon
Amity Vineyard grows their own fruit as well as purchases fruit form nearby sustainable Willamette Valley plots.  This Pinot Noir is a blend from 5 different vineyard sites and aged in 15% neutral French oak for 11 months. Black raspberry, cocoa, and slight mocha notes.

2013 Fritz Dry Creek Zinfandel ($23) - Dry Creek, California
A Zin for the masses. Fritz’s estate grown Zinfandel is full of black fruit and spice. It has a graham-cracker aroma going on in the nose, with notes of blueberry in the finish, ending nice and dry. Check out Fritz’s underground winery here and learn about their dedication to sustainable and quality wine production.
